What is SEO?

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is the name given to any activity that attempts to improve search engine rankings. In search results “Google” displays links to pages it considers the most relevant and authoritative first. Authority is mainly measured by analysing the number and quality of links from other web pages linking to yours.


Do I need SEO?

If you are looking at ranking on the top pages of Google, Bing, Yahoo or other search engines then some sort of SEO is going to be done. Whether it be simply adding your website to Google’s index via website submission or achieving links to your own website from other websites. SEO comes in all shapes and sizes! So yes, you need SEO on your website to get anywhere near the top pages! After all why have an amazing website with all the bells and whistles if no one is going to be able to see it?


Can I do it myself?

The answer is yes you can. There are many great articles out there in order to teach yourself how to do it the right way, but be careful! The wrong move could see your website banned from Google for a while! Follow the instructions in different articles and find what works for you. Bare in mind that it is not an over night job it is continuous throughout the life of your website. Take a week off and your rank may fall.
